The Challenge:
MCo played a key role in the development and support of the J. Paul Getty Trust’s mission to provide leadership for innovation and excellence in arts education. MCo identified and implemented “best practice” strategies that have fulfilled the Institute’s goals of expanding its leadership base and influence within the arts education community, building capacity for stakeholders to implement arts education reform, and working towards the adoption of policies at national, state and local levels.

The Solution:

MCo has also utilized its extensive network of contacts to develop collaborations between the the Trust and the business sector.  Among the joint ventures coordinated by MCo included Business Week’s co-sponsorship of the fifth national conference, a unique presence for GEI at the Business Week CEO conference, and production of an arts advocacy insert disseminated to the Business Week readership.

MCo also designed and produced a two-year initiative targeting the nation’s children and challenging them to explore their communities through art. Wave Your Banner!, required middle school children and their teachers to research and create a banner that represented the history, traditions and important issues in their communities.

MCo conceptualized, organized and produced six consecutive national conferences for the Trust.  These conferences are an integral part of the Trust’s advocacy campaign and serve to not only showcase the work of the Institute, but also provide an arena where leaders can engage in meaningful dialogue aimed at driving the arts education reform movement.

To achieve these objectives, MCo created and implemented a multi-year strategic advocacy plan that includes provision of ongoing strategic counsel and the development of publications, collaterals, resources, videos, advertising and other materials that support the Trust’s work.
